These well-established plants have been professionally grown with a wonderful ball of foliage aloft an elegant stem. Despite their Mediterranean heritage, olives are surprisingly tough and will happily grow in the UK down to -8C in winter, although it’s best if you can protect them a little. With its neatly shaped, evergreen grey-green foliage, this Olive is perfect in a border or patio pot and will also look great in a pot in a conservatory. They love hot, su y spots and thrive in free draining soil. They produce small creamy flowers in spring which self-pollinate and may produce small olive fruits in hot, dry summers with plenty of time to ripen.Olives are low maintenance, easy to grow and very slow growing, ideal for small gardens or busy gardeners. Great value and will add a touch of class to your patio. All our Olives are sourced from specialist growers who are regularly inspected and tested for plant pests and diseases, including the new disease threat Xylella. Care Information If planting in a container, use a loam-based compost such as John I es No 3 with the addition of about 20% grit to help with drainage. If planting in the garden, add grit to the planting hole to improve drainage. Pot grown plants should be transferred to a slightly larger pot each spring. Olive Trees are hardy but they benefit from winter protection. Small potted plants can be moved inside, while outside plants can be bubble-wrapped around the pot and fleece used to protect the canopy. Although drought tolerant, pot-grown olives must be watered regularly and not be allowed to dry out. Clip trees occasionally to keep their shape.
